Safety
The construction industry, and, in particular, the tri-state area, has some of the most stringent safety requirements in the nation, thereby demanding safety leadership. Noble’s ownership and veteran construction team members possess significant field experience in construction site safety.
Noble’s mantra for safety success is “close the circle”. Our corporate safety leadership adapted this concept into a full circle approach towards safety excellence. Pre-construction planning, onsite safety training, routine field inspections, engaging workers, and tracking/trending leading indicator data are all tools we utilize to develop a predictive model with our field supervision and prevent incidents and/or violations.
New projects are given significant safety related attention during pre-construction. Logistic plans are coordinated with our Corporate Safety Director to ensure compliance with ever-evolving safety regulations. Upon award, all subcontractors are required to develop pre-task plans through the use of a standard Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) guideline developed by Noble. Upon starting work, our subcontractors will attend site specific safety orientations, daily pre-shift safety meetings, and participate in national safety stand downs. These practices continue to make Noble industry leaders in safety performance.
Noble’s Safety & Health Management strategy includes a 5-point approach in alignment with OSHA’s recommended practices for Safety & Health Programs in construction:
- Management Leadership – Top-down support of Noble’s Injury & Illness Prevention Philosophy. Ownership and senior management receive regular project safety updates and participate in the generation of detailed action plans.
- Worker Participation – Daily site inspections, a progressive disciplinary action program, engaging workers onsite, prompting corrective action on safe work practices and regular site wide safety meetings encouraging worker feedback.
- Hazard Identification, Prevention, & Control – Utilization of pre-task-planning and Job Hazard Analysis programs to identify hazards ahead of time, in a proactive effort to institute controls. All Noble subcontractors are required to deliver a JHA prior to mobilization.
- Education & Training – Noble ownership has committed to ensuring 100% of Noble Field Supervision are OSHA 30-Hour construction safety trained. In addition, Noble’s Corporate Safety Department issues Safety Notices, Toolbox talk topics and conducts routine training needs assessments to ensure Noble’s staff maintain proper safety training for task specific operations, such as scaffold use.
- Program Evaluation & Improvement – Understanding the fluid nature of construction work, daily site safety inspections are conducted by Noble field supervision to identify any real-time hazards and implement immediate corrective action. Noble’s Corporate Safety Department leads with a “boots on the ground” approach. The Corporate Safety Director visits each job site regularly, interfaces with subcontractors and supers, and regularly attends project meetings to ensure conformance with Noble Safety requirements. In addition, Noble ownership reviews project safety performance on a routine basis.
